Longview World of Wonders is excited to announce their first Summer Mini-Camp, “World of William: Reinvented,” on Tuesday, June 20 from 10am – 2pm. LongviewWOW has partnered with the Texas Shakespeare Festival for the past six summers at the Kilgore Festival Center, and now this annual event will be “reinvented” with a new location and format.
The workshop for children ages 5-11 will take place at the LongviewWOW Discovery Center at 112 E. Tyler in Downtown Longview. Scheduled activities will include the popular improvisation workshop with TSF intern actors and a voucher for a ticket to a performance of the 2017 children’s play, “The Witch of Pickle Patch” by Jason Richards. As the writer of a new original children’s play each year at the Shakespeare Festival, Richards will share ideas about his creative process and a preview of this year’s production.
Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch for the midday break in The Factory. The afternoon session will include newly designed activities such as Special Effects, the Globe Theater, and Will’s Words with hands-on discovery projects. Parents and guardians will sign-in camp participants, but are not required to stay.
Online registration is available at www.longviewwow.org and at Longview World of Wonders for $20 per child, which includes the $8 admission to the play. For PayPal payments add a processing fee. The registration deadline is Tuesday, June 13. For questions, call 903-212-4969.
If you are looking for fun, creative, educational adventures, this is a must event for your summer calendar!
