Mission
Longview World of Wonders inspires a life-long love of learning by giving children the opportunity to create and explore in a hands-on educational environment.

History & Future
Research began in the late 1990’s to bring a children’s museum in Longview. Longview World of Wonders is building upon the research and marketing/feasibility studies conducted then to make this a reality. Several area residents began discussing the dream of creating a hands-on children's museum in early 2009 and assembled in March. By June, a board of directors was elected; by August, committees were formed; and by September bylaws were approved. In October 2009, we renamed our effort and officially launched our Museum Without Walls initiative to execute many planned activities during the fall.  LongviewWOW obtained its 501(c)3 tax exempt status in early 2011, which the IRS designated as retroactive to September 2009, when application was first made.

During 2011, officers and committees have been planning fundraising efforts to fund a home for LongviewWOW. These efforts continue to move forward while volunteers expand the Museum Without Walls initiative. This will ensure programs are available for the community’s youth and continue to build awareness around our efforts.

According to The Association of Children’s Museums, based in Washington, D.C., the average length of time from getting organized to opening the doors is 3.6 years. Longview World of Wonders expects the creation a physical children’s discovery center to take three to five years.
